The actors, stage crew and directors involved in Hauser Jr. High School’s presentation of Casablanca have been working very hard, putting the finishing touches on their rendition of the movie made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Performances will take place this Tuesday, March 23, and Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the school, 65 Woodside Road, Riverside. The free performances are open to the public, so bring your friends and family to support these hard-working people!

In an interesting twist, this play, directed by Hauser teachers David Mason and Karina Koncius, will incorporate actual film, a first at Hauser Jr. High School. The idea is to replicate the film angles and feel of the movie as closely as possible. More information about the play and its use of film was featured in articles that appeared in both The Landmark and Suburban Life last week.

Both directors are excited about the show this year because the great cast features very strong lead actors and a huge cast of extras, including Nazis, Moroccans and spies. Additionally, there will be a surprise at the end of a show: a technological slight of hand that will leave viewers marveling at its sophistication!

The entire cast has rehearsed tirelessly to present a high-quality, dramatic, action-filled play. For more information, please contact: Mrs. Koncius or Mr. Mason. See you at the show!

There has been a change in the dates of the spring musical “Peter Pan.” The musical has been moved to Tuesday, March 17 at 7 pm and and March 18 at 1 pm and 7 pm. The dates in the printed school calendar are now incorrect. Please contact Mr. Mason or Ms. Lynch with any questions.

All Hauser’s after-school athletic and co-curricular activities on Tuesday, Sept. 16th are cancelled.
Due to unprecedented flooding, street closures and ComEd-mandated power shutdowns; the Village of Riverside public safety officials strongly requested that schools remain closed on Tuesday, Sept 16th. District 96 will comply with this request and will close schools for one additional day – Tuesday, Sept. 16th. However, all staff (teachers, support staff and custodians) should report for work.”
