Love Halloween? Then you will love this!

The Family Reading Night Planning Committee is looking for some help with decorations and a gross station.  Family Reading Night is on October 29th from 6:30 to 8:30. We need someone to gather materials for a gross station. You know the kind where your reach in a box of eye balls or bat brains.  Fun!! Fun!! Fun!!  We also need someone to gather decorations. This should be a fabulously fun Halloween event for the entire family. If you can help out contact Jennifer Leimberer at leimberer@comcast.net.

Library Volunteers 2010-2011

If you are looking for a meaningful way to help Hollywood School and your student(s) please consider being a library volunteer.

This is a very short commitment. Your child goes to the library once a week to checkout books. Grades K-3rd also hear a story. Library volunteers (K-3rd) read to the class then assist the students by helping pick out books. Finally, all volunteers assist the librarian by shelving the books returned that week. Classes meet for 30 minutes. The more volunteers we get, the better!

For your planning purposes see the schedule of library times below. If you are interested or have any questions please respond ASAP to Laura Meehan at 485-5492.

Hurry, kids start library soon!

Field Day 2010 Is Upon Us!!!!

Field Day 2010 Volunteers

Hello Volunteers!!!

Hollywood School’s Under the Big Top Field Day is on Friday, May 28th and you’ve signed up to volunteer.  Thank you so much for helping us run this fun-filled event!  I have attached the rotation schedule, volunteer schedule and games description.

For those of you who volunteered to set:  Set-up will begin at 7:30a.m. We will need to decorate the school and bring the games out to the R.B. field.  I will stay outside during the Awards Assembly to make sure nothing blows away or “disappears”.

For those of you who are assigned to a class: You will be rotating with the teachers and kids to each event and encouraging them to compete.  Your participation can make it the best of days!

For those of you who are assigned to a game/station:  You will be explaining the game to the kids, teachers and parent volunteers.   If a game needs to be adjusted due to capability of the age group, please feel free to do so.  Your excitement can be contagious!  When the games are over, please clean up the game and bring whatever you can to the school gym stage.

We encourage everyone to attend the Awards Assembly starting at 8:30a.m.  This is a school-wide event held in the gym.  It should end around 10:00.  Classes will return to their rooms and prepare for the Opening Ceremony.  If you do not attend the Awards Assembly, please arrive at the school at 10:00.  We appreciate if you can help with any last minute set-up needs.  After the Awards Assembly, preschoolers and their parents are invited to the Art Room to make their “banner” or poster for the Opening Ceremony.  They can also make up a song or cadence.

Regarding Preschoolers:  I am aware of 8 preschoolers attending. The preschoolers have been assigned a category and will be rotating to all the stations.  Preschoolers are invited to stay for lunch.  Their day with us ends at 1:30p.m.

All volunteers are invited to enjoy a hot dog lunch with everyone outside.  Teachers and aids eat inside.  Anyone who can help with lunch and supervising the classes are near and dear to our hearts!

At 1:30, the 5th Graders will be playing a kickball game against teachers, staff, parents and volunteers.  Everyone is invited to play.  We will also need a few volunteers to supervise the “Black Top” activities from 1:30 – 2:30 since some teachers will be playing kickball.

We are all looking forward to spending a wonderful day outside.  I know this is a lot of information at once, but I’d like to answer as many questions before the Field Day as possible.  Again, thank you so much for volunteering your time.  You make this day possible!!
