Clarification about Crossing Guards

There has been some confusion regarding the interview with Dr. Lamberson that appeared in the Suburban Life on Wednesday, June 2nd.  The Village of Brookfield has not cut funding for its community crossing guard program and will continue to pay for community crossing guards for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  There will continue to be Brookfield community crossing guards at the intersection of Washington and Hollywood and at the Hollywood train crossing.  Hollywood personnel will continue to cross students directly in front of Hollywood School.

The Village of Riverside has cut funding to its community crossing guard program.  At the May school board meeting, District 96 declined to pay for Riverside’s community crossing guard program.  Children from the Hollywood area who attend Hauser will be affected by these cuts.  This fall, there will not be crossing guards at 1st Avenue or in downtown Riverside unless Riverside’s village board  reinstates its community crossing guard program.  If you have any questions or require further information. please contact Dr. Lamberson or Mindy Keller.

Mark Those Calendars and Looking for some Ghoulish help!

A Halloweenish Family Reading Night is scheduled for Friday, October 29th.  I know it is early. But, I am looking for people interested in doing some spooky reading this SUMMER. We are looking for good Halloweenish stories to be read or told at the event. Why summer? I thought you might want to try them out around a camp fire or check some out during one of your many trips to the library.  If you are interested in helping with this fun and ghoulish task or would like to be on the planning committee for this fun event, please contact Jennifer Leimberer at leimberer@comcast.net. Have a creepy and fabulous summer!
