All week long, Hollywood will be celebrating Earth Week and the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with special activities. On Monday, your kids should wear something GREEN! Tuesday is Zero Trash Day (pack a lunch with zero trash and receive a special dessert) and the April Ecology Club meeting.

The students did a great job sharing their writing pieces. It was amazing to watch the kids celebrate each other’s work. A special thank you to the ad-hoc parent Hollywood Writers Theater Troop for sharing their time and talents as part of this celebration. An extra special THANK YOU to Ethan Clarkson, Nina Saletta, Callie Thompson, Beau Lincoln Beauchamp, Art and Jen Perry, Jen and Tim Leimberer, Heather Frenz, Suzzie Higgins, Mr. Ricky, Mr. Ken, Joyce Clarkson, Amy Lodolce, Lucia Adami for performing or helping make the performance happen. Another Big THANK YOU to Martha Carlson, Linda Maher-Osowski, Cindy O’Keefe, Elizabeth Fragoso, and all the family members that came, helped with snack and made this celebration extra special. And of course a THANK YOU to the teachers and staff for supporting and guiding our young writers. Keep on writing! We look forward to celebrating it!
Tomorrow will be the first day of our exciting artist in residence project where our kids will help create a permanent sculpture for the Hollywood memorial rain garden! Sonata Kazimieraitiene, a Brookfield ceramicist, muralist and sculptor, will begin meeting with students tomorrow and continue visiting for the next four weeks. Please ask your kids about the project throughout the process!
Ms. Kazimieraitiene also will host a Family Night next Tuesday, April 27 from 7 – 8 pm at school. Please come meet her, see some of her other work, and make a small piece of artwork with your family for your home.
