Introduction: The meeting was called to order at 8:10pm, following the Founder’s Day Dinner. Board members in attendence were Laura Tracy, Kierith Kurth, Denise Notz, Sue Gersch, and Jennifer Perry. Maureen Rurka was absent.
Recording Secretary Report: The minutes for the December 4th and January 8th meeting were accepted and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was accepted and approved.
Corresponding Secretary’s Report: Birthday cards were sent to Ms. Turner of LADSE, Ms. Pescador, Mrs. Janice Johnson, and Ms. Pellegrini.
School & District News: Ms. DeVylder thanked the PTA and the Cultural Arts Committee for the Urban Gateways Spring Groove Assembly, the Kindergarten/1st grade trip to see Alice in Wonderland, and the 2nd grade trip to the Riverside Arts Center.
Lately, Noon Tunes have been dedicated to Jazz.
ISATS are earlier than usual this year and begin next week. A note regarding headlice was sent home today. A note will be going home tomorrow to kindergarten parents, informing them that Hollywood has received approval to hire a certified teacher to support Mrs. Schirmer in the kindergarten classroom. A parent asked if this person will replace Mrs. Schirmer in the fall. Ms. DeVylder said that she did not know and that the kindergarten teacher position for Hollywood has not yet been posted. Ms. DeVylder said she did not expect to begin interviewing candidates for the position until March.
Committee Reports:
PTA Nominations:
Kierith Kurth reported that PTA nomination forms have gone out and are due Friday. All positions are open. Descriptions of PTA board job responsibilites will be sent out via feedblitz. Please contact Kierith Kurth or Laura Meehan for more information. The slate for the PTA board for the 2009-2010 school year will be determined at the March PTA meeting, with voting at the April PTA meeting and installation of the new board at the May meeting.
