Dear Hollywood Parents:

We will be adding a few more interventions to the list of housekeeping

procedures as we work together to make Hollywood School head lice free. The

following procedures will begin on Monday March 9 and continue through March 20:

All students K-5 will be checked prior to the beginning of the school day. The

schedule will be as follows: 7:15 am – grades 3-5 and 7:45 am – grades K-2.

Children who do not arrive at these times will be checked as soon as the nurses

are free.

After being checked, children will remain at school under the supervision of

PTA/Parent volunteers.

All students found to have head lice and/or nits will be sent home. Parents will

be given information on identification and treatment, and be informed that

children can return to school only after being checked by the nurse and found

to be nit free.

All student belongings will be bagged daily in all grades.

Classroom equipment will continue to be treated with Davies Hospital

Disinfectant, including desks, carpets, headphones/headsets, locker/cubbies,

etc.

Classroom pillows, beanbags, art smocks, etc. will be bagged or removed.

Parents can assist us in these efforts by following these proactive steps:

Check all family members for the presence of head lice or nits.

If you find evidence of lice or nits, treat the affected family member

immediately. Be sure to follow all of the recommended housekeeping

procedures in your home, car, etc. suggested in the information packet sent

home on March 5 (call us immediately if you need a copy).

Report any case of head lice to the school nurse (708) 485 7630.

Contact any family and friends you, your child, or your family may have visited

recently.

Thanks go to Kierith Kurth, Denise Notz, Geana Chapp, and Dr. Janice Limperis for their

support in creating this new plan. We look forward to positive results while maintaining

a positive learning environment.

Respectfully,

Victoria A. DeVylder
